Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure to restore your teeth to their natural brightness. It is used by dentists to remove the stains on your teeth without any modification to the tooth surface and make your teeth and gums healthier.
Tooth discoloration or stains can develop due to many reasons. For example, some common foods and beverages that you consume can increase stains. Teeth whitening does not harm your teeth enamel nor increases your sensitivity to foods, but allows you to smile with more confidence.

Our teeth whitening dentist will listen to your personal preferences and concerns before performing the procedure. There are various reasons why your teeth can change color, some may include:
Consuming foods and beverages such as chocolate, red meat, red wine, and coffee that can cause stains
Smoking or chewing tobacco which can cause yellow teeth stains over time
Over the years, the outer layer of your enamel becomes thinner and may appear more yellow
Your teeth color may change as a result of an injury to your mouth
Taking medications that produce side effects such as teeth discoloration
Teeth whitening includes:
Intrinsic Whitening -
This changes the inside color of the teeth. Intrinsic whitening can protect your teeth from accelerated or premature aging. You should keep yourself hydrated to prevent acid wear on your teeth. When the inside of the teeth is whitened, you can see the outer enamel of your teeth is lighter, which brightens and whitens your teeth.
Extrinsic Whitening -
Extrinsic whitening removes stains from the outside of the teeth. Your dentist can easily remove the stains, caused by the foods and beverages you have consumed, through the whitening products and gel. Your dentist will choose the best whitening product for you depending on the level of staining and whitening required.
Teeth whitening costs can vary depending on how much whitening you need and the number of sessions required.
Whitening is not permanent and will start to fade even in a month if your whitened teeth get exposed to beverages and foods that can cause stains. If you avoid beverages and foods that can stain your teeth, whitening can last a year or even longer. The degree of whiteness achieved through teeth whitening varies from person to person depending on the level of staining, the type of whitening method used, and the condition of the teeth.
Zoom! whitening is an advanced process of whitening discolored teeth to enhance the appearance of your teeth. With Zoom! whitening, you can quickly whiten your teeth in one single visit to your dentist.
The Zoom! whitening procedure begins with a dental cleaning. Next, using the teeth whitening chart, the target shade is decided. The patient’s lips and gums are covered, leaving the teeth surface area exposed. Your dentist uses cheek retractors to keep the oral cavity open and applies a specially formulated hydrogen peroxide gel on the patient’s teeth surface. The Zoom! lamp is then activated with its light directed onto the teeth — the whitening light acts on the hydrogen peroxide gel to break it down. A thin layer covering the teeth called “pellicle” is also dissolved. The released oxygen enters the enamel and underlying dentin layer of the teeth to bleach out any staining particle. The whole process is repeated up to three times, and the total treatment time is 45-90 minutes. Afterwards, a special fluoride gel is applied to your teeth to minimize the sensitivity. The Zoom! whitening procedure visibly whitens your teeth up to eight shade whiter.
